Who are we?
PVBC is a Southern Baptist Church that teaches directly from the Holy Bible.
The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) is a United States-based Christian denomination.
The SBC is the world's largest Baptist denomination, and the largest Protestant body in the United States, with nearly
16 million members as of 2012.
SBC updated The Baptist Faith & Message in 2000, which summarizes key Southern Baptist beliefs based on scripture. Frequently asked questions can be found HERE.
The great thing about the Southern Baptist denomination is that each church is autonomous. According to the SBC: "We recognize that in the New Testament there was no centralized ecclesiastical authority over the churches that forced the churches into any form of compliance. There was encouragement, exhortation, and admonition, but there was never enforcement. We strongly adhere to that principle. Jesus Christ is the head of the local church - we are not. Each church is responsible before God for the policies it sets and decisions it makes."
We are also members of the Baptist Convention of New England (BCNE). Through this affiliation we support missions all around the world. One way that PVBC spreads love and hope is by generously giving to both the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering every year.
